Medical-Dental collaboration is essential to promoting dental visits by Age One. Although the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry all recommend Age One visits, this has not been the standard of care in Massachusetts. As a result, Connect the Dots was established by the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS), Massachusetts Head Start Association (MHSA), and the Massachusetts Early Childhood Oral Health Consortium- a group of medical, dental, and state public health leaders working together with support from the DentaQuest Foundation to improve access to oral health care for young children.
