I agree with Dr. Richard B. Goldbloom's comment concerning the awkwardness of the term "Ambulatory Pediatrics," which appeared in August Pediatucs. I have a proposal which I suspect would obviate this semantic difficulty.

Since it is only the relatively rare child who is admitted as an inpatient or non-ambulatory patient, I propose the term ambulatory pediatrics be dropped, and that the department be referred to simply as pediatrics. What was formerly the In-patient Service, should be referred to as Decubitus Pediatrics.
