This small volume is one in a series of postgraduate pediatric publications, and according the book jacket, is not offered to specialists but is prepared rather as a working guide for the practicing clinical pediatrician. Although the author is a truly distinguished pediatrician and endocrinologist, this contribution leaves much to be desired.

All facets of the subject are succinctly described, from diseases of the hypothalamus through the several other hormone-secreting organs. Appropriate clinical tests and recommended further reading are included.
